Sullivan Livestock yarded 1059 cattle at their Gympie sale on Monday where the market was dearer for meatworks cattle and heavy feeders, both steers and heifers. Cattle were drawn from Maryborough, Aramara, Boompa, Woolooga, Kilkivan, Tansey, Conondale, Kenilworth, Eumundi and all local areas.
A Bazadaiz bull from Rodney Johansen, Boompa topped 288c to return $2838. John and Joan Falconer, Widgee sold a Charbray bull for 286c ($2461). St Neots, Cinnabar sold a Charolais bull for 284c ($2614). Quality young bullocks from Neville and Lyndall Ensbey, Bergins Pocket made 302c and 301c to return $1829 and $1769.
A show steer from Hamilton Rockemer, Brooweena made 309c to return $2102. Brahman cows from Neville and Lyndall Ensbey made 245c ($1557 and $1363). Droughtmaster cows from BH & SO Portas, Woolooga made 245c ($1655 and $1542).
Only a small number of heavy feeder steers were yarded and sold to a top of 276c for Charbray steers from Ian Gauld, Teebar to return ($1144). Droughtmaster steers 10 – 12 months from Ron Gibbs, Widgee sold for 285c or $992 and $866. Droughtmaster cross steers from Dennis and Sue Billiau, Scotchy Pocket made 269c ($784).
Droughtmaster steers from John Krafft, Gunalda made 288c ($710). Brangus steers from Dion Williams, Brooweena made 285c ($728). Light Droughtmaster steers from Terry Schiefelbein, Munna Creek made 299c to return $585. Generally weaner steers sold from 260c to 281c.
Quality Charbray heifers from Neville and Lyndall Ensbey met spirited competition from both restockers and lotfeeders selling for 273c ($1123), 271c ($1097), 270c ($1029, $1084 and $1099). Angus heifers PTIC from Dusty Partnership, Connondale made $1100. Charolais cross heifers from The Ferris family, Kin Kin made 245c ($833 and $792) and 246c ($741).
Charbray heifers from Dion Williams made 249c ($685). Droughtmaster heifers from The Wedemeyer family made 251c ($706). Droughtmaster heifers from John McGill, Lower Wonga sold for 269c ($624). Droughtmaster heifers from Terry Schiefelbein, Munna Creek made 281c ($542). Good conditioned vealer heifers generally sold from 200c to 215c.
Cows and calves were limited in supply and sold to a top of $1350.
