There were 294 head yarded at Stariha Auctions Woodford cattle sale on Monday.
With some rainfall in the previous week, the market kicked for most types. Weaner steers were up to $150 per head dearer, cows and calves sold to strong rates and feeder cattle rates also increased. Veal remained firm.
Jim and Kim Green, Linville, sold medium Droughtmaster cows for $1265. GK Armitage, Beerburrum, sold Braford cows and calves for $1240. Gyula Nemeth, Burpengary, sold a Hereford bull for $1500. Hereford cross steers form Caboolture, sold for $1300. Symbol Grazing, Woolmar, sold milk tooth Brahman cross heifers for $1060 and Brahman weaner heifers for $850. Ivan Wild, Woodford, sold a line of Droughtmaster heifers for $835.
Wayne Browning, Benarkin North, sold Brahman cross weaners, 10-12 months, with steers making $800 and heifers $860. John Chambers, Neurum, sold a line of six-month-old Santa steer calves for $700. Trevor Richards, Kilcoy, sold Charbray steers, seven months, for $770. Lou and Debra Ceccato, Draper, sold Brangus steer calves for $670. Brian Kuhn, Kilcoy, sold Droughtmaster calves, five months, for 640-$750.
