THE quality Barcoo River property Prairie Downs is on the market, to be auctioned by Ray White Rural in Brisbane on August 17.
Located 70km north west of Blackall on the Barcoo River, the 6293 hectare (15,550 acre) property is described as very well watered with a capped bore reticulated throughout the property. There are also two stock dams plus holes in the 9km Barcoo River frontage, as well as seasonal water holes in the Douglas Ponds system to the east.
Prairie Downs boasts a mix of country types including about 800ha acres of Barcoo River channels, 720ha of lightly flooded country on the eastern side of the river, 800ha of improved gidyea country on the western side with strong stands of buffel pasture.
The balance of the property is lightly shaded boree, leopardwood, bauhinia downs grassed with Mitchell and Flinders plus a wide variety of seasonal herbages.
The property is divided into nine main paddocks, two holding paddocks and three cooler yards. Most of the internal fencing has been replaced during the last 10 years. The boundaries are described as being in serviceable condition with the western side recently renewed.
The vendors estimate the carrying capacity to be a conservative 800 dry cattle.
There are cattle yards at the homestead with pound draft, scales with computer system, ramp and new cradle, set up for low stress stock handling. Other improvements include a four bedroom homestead, machinery/hay shed, vehicle shed and workshop.
