Monto Cattle and Country’s fortnightly sale saw 410 head of prime and store cattle yarded. Rates for prime cattle rose especially good bullocks with the lead topping at 298c/kg while cows also rose topping at 240c. Store cattle held their ground but rises in feeder cattle were up to 15c better than previous markets.
Heavy bulls sold from 190c to 240c. Alan and Rhonda Price and family Quambi, Bancroft sold a run of Brangus and Brahman bullocks to top at 298c or $1813 to average 287c and 590kg. Noel Goody penned Angus bullocks 578c to realise 295c or $1705. DJ and DE Kuhn’s Santa cross trade heifers sold to 270c or $1390. Alan and Rhonda Price sold Brangus cows 520kg to realise $1207. RJ and KJ Preston penned Brahman cows to return $1315 or 240c.
PS, RJ and TJ Nielsen sold Red Brangus No 7 steers 375kg for 266c or $998 and No 7 heifers 340kg for 251c or $854. BJ and CE Kennedy sold Brangus cross No 7 steers 418kg for 266c returning $1115. NJ Darlington penned Santa weaner steers 200kg which sold to 286c or $573. NJ and VM Ryan, Builyan sold Brahman cross weaner steers to 285c or $586 and weaner heifers to 220c or $425. Shayne and Helen Mossman, Ubobo sold Droughtmaster cross weaner steers from 253c to 273c topping at $820.
EN and PA Hindmarsh sold two pens of Charbray No 7 heifers for 256c topping at $1125. Ashenhurst Partnership sold Charbray cross No 8 heifers to 251c or $716. J Araya’s crossbred weaner heifers sold to 251c or $655. Matthew and Rowena Clarke’s Droughtmaster weaner heifers sold to 235c or $626.
