THE Wheelhouse family’s prized Blackall properties Selvister, Linden and Fairlea are heading to auction.
Selvister and Linden is described as 13,305ha (32,878 acres) of sensibly developed pebbly gidyea country with some open downs as well as the Ravensbourne channels.
The gidyea country, which ranges from light to heavier pebble and from darker to more red soils, has been developed in bays with good shade lines throughout for livestock. Buffel is well established with some regrowth requiring treatment. The more open Mitchell grass country has pockets of well established buffel.
The property is divided into 16 main paddocks and six holding paddocks. There is also 11km of exclusion fencing on the Avonleigh boundary. Water is supplied from a combination of dams and tanks and troughs supplied by the Linden bore.
Selvister has a four bedroom homestead and a two bedroom cottage with garages and workshops. The ancillary sheds include two, four-bay machinery sheds, hay sheds and a saddle shed. There is also a five stand shearing shed, and quarters, plus a small set of cattle yards.
Linden has a four bedroom homestead with machinery shed and workshop plus second machinery/storage shed. There are also steel and timber cattle yards and a five stand shearing shed and quarters.
Selvister and Linden are estimated to carry 1500 breeders with progeny to weaning or 2200 backgrounders.
Fairlea is in two freehold titles covering 2590ha (6400 acres) 17km from Blackall.
The well developed gidyea and leopardwood country has heavy stands of buffel and Mitchell grasses. It is divided into six main paddocks and two holding paddocks. It is said to easily carry 250 breeders with progeny to weaning or 300 backgrounders.
There are two dams and water from the Norwood bore, which supplies six tanks and seven troughs. A bore on the southern end supplies a turkey’s nest and two troughs.
Infrastructure includes a four bedroom house, machinery shed and a workshop. There is a small set of cattle yards as well as a shearing shed.
