This year’s elegant Weengallon Pink Ladies Day will bring Goondiwindi one step closer to having their own local Breast Care Nurse.
Weengallon Pink Ladies Day co-ordinator, Emma Montgomery, said funds from the glamorous charity event, on Wednesday August 29, would be directed towards underwriting the Goondiwindi position.
“For years we’ve raised money to support the St George Breast Care Nurse position and now Queensland Health have made that a permanently funded position we can turn our attention towards filling other service gaps.”
Emma sids positive discussions were already underway following Weengallon Pink Ladies Day making a substantial funding pledge.
“As a former breast cancer patient myself, I can tell you how important it is to have a local go-to person to guide you through the process and reduce the need to always travel on to larger centres.”
And the South West Toyota Dealers Group Weengallon Pink Ladies Day, will certainly be raising the funds in style with this year’s ‘High Tea’ theme.
“A High Tea immediately makes you think of pink flowers, crisp white tablecloths, the faint scent of roses, greenery, chinking of china tea cups, the popping of champagne, laughter and togetherness,” Emma smiles.
In another surprise development, for the first time ever, Weengallon Pink Ladies Day will have a male guest speaker.
Mark Bunn, who lost his wife to breast cancer four years ago, is the best-selling author of ‘Ancient Wisdom for Modern Health’, which looks at simplifying life to increase happiness and health.
He said the community has never had more access to health information than we do today.
“Everywhere we turn, there's a new diet, a new medication, a new exercise regime.”
“Yet we're more stressed, depressed, sleepless and overweight than we've ever been before,” Mark says.
Emma thanked AgForce Queensland for bringing Mark Bunn to Weengallon to share his simple secrets for success.
“I know Mark will have all the ladies leaving the 2018 Weengallon High Tea Pink Ladies Day feeling refreshed, revived and renewed.”
Tickets go on sale through the website on Wednesday July 18.
The day will begin at 9am with a complimentary bubbly from the Bentleys Champagne Bar.
The ladies will shop at more than 30 luxury stores and refresh at Graincorp’s Café Pink.
This year the Range Event Hire marquee will be decorated through the generosity of the St Hilda’s School and the High Tea luncheon is provided by Clayfield College.
After the boisterous Rabobank Auction guests will be invited to take their complimentary McConachie Steadman water bottles for the road trip home.
