Charters Towers combined agents yarded a total of 1291 cattle consisting of 670 prime cattle and 621 store cattle on June 20.
The prime cattle consisted of 113 bullocks, 45 heifers, 470 cows and 42 bulls.
Store cattle consisted of 391 steers, 211 heifers, 19 cows and 19 calves.
Cattle comprised of a few small lines of export bullocks, along with bigger lines of well finished cows and bulls.
The regular gallery of buyers attended, with feeder buyers competing on the better bred categories.
The yarding was drawn from Mt Isa, Belyando, Croyden, local and coastal cattle.
Prime Quotes:
Heavy bullocks were quoted as 2-3c easier, heifers were unchanged, cows were 5-10c dearer and bulls were 2-5c dearer on last week’s rates.
Plainer cows were down by 5-10c.
Steers and Bullocks medium up to 500kg sold to 238c to average 219c, heavy steers over 500kg sold to 248c to average 235c.
Medium heifers up to 440kg sold to 221c to average 186c.
Medium cows up to 400kg sold to 186c to average 132c, heavy cows over 400kg made 198c to average 178c.
Medium bulls up to 450kg sold to 274c to average 233c, while heavy bulls over 450kg sold to 277c to average 221c.
Bullocks topped at 245c/kg for 5 Brahman bullocks sold on A/C LT and CP Curley that weighed 608kg to return $1490 per head.
Best priced trade heifers were presented on a/c Claraville Station, Croydon that sold 221c to weigh 420kg and return $929 per head.
The top pen of cows were sold by Felspar Grazing for 198c and weighed 594kg to return $1177 per head.
Bulls topped at 277c with a pen of four quality bulls sold on account Claraville Station topping at 255c and weighing 725kg to return $1850 per head.

Store cattle were mostly presented in good order and met with an improved market with steers up 10-12c and heifers up 5-10c.
Steers up to 200kg sold to 282c to average 274c, steers 200–320kg made 272c to average 239c, while steers 320–400kg topped 246c to average 224c.
Heifers up to 200kg sold to 210c to average 201c, heifers 200–320kg made 229c to average 201c, heifers 320–370kg topped 220c to average 196c.
A pen of 15 steers a/c P & F Bucknell made 282c and weighed 191kg, returning an average of $538 per head.
A good pen of 17 heifers a/c Mt Douglas Pastoral Co made 229c, weighed 301kg and returned an average of $688 per head.
A line of 6 x 6 cow and calf sold on a/c Hillgrove Pastoral, Charters Towers returned $960 per unit.
