Mareeba Combined Agents penned 348 head for this week’s prime and store sale. Numbers reduced slightly on last week. There were no local trade steers to quote this.
Local trade heifers remained firm in value selling from 188c to 200c while cows sold in a similar range to last week making from 135c to196c. Slaughter Ox sold from 120c to 230c, cows suitable for slaughter made from 160c to 203c, up 7c on the previous week, while bulls suitable for slaughter were back 10c, selling from 158c to 210c.
Store cattle were limited to a few pens and best of the day was 220c for two pens Limousin cross steers from Wondecla. Heifers from the same property achieved 180c. Young Store Bulls remained firm and competition remains good for the better quality types, reaching 218c.
