A total of 389 head were yarded at Stariha Auctions Woodford cattle sale on Monday.
A lot of plainer cattle came to hand, with cattle showing the effects of the dry conditions in some areas. Quality weaner steers sold well, while younger calves and plainer types were again easier. Fat and store cows both met with solid competition.
Ron McIntosh, Peachester, sold Charbray cows for $1100 and a line of Charbray store cows for $795. Newton Family, Caboolture, sold Fresian cows for $990 and steers for $1240. Roderick and Sons, Maleny, sold milk tooth Brahman steers for $940.
Martin and Diane Clair, Mount Mee, sold Charolais weaner steers for $670. Michael Francis, Crows Nest, sold a line of Charolais cross steers for $640. Cameron Barrett, North Maleny, sold Droughtmaster and Charolais steer calves for $640. J&N Hicks, Villeneuve, sold Droughtmaster male calves for $685.
