Weaner steers sell to 300c at Moreton


Quality lines of backgrounders and feeders firm to dearer at Moreton this week.


Agents Boyd O’Brien Bartholomew yarded 716 head of cattle at Moreton on Tuesday.  Vealers and yearlings continued a downward trend with quality lines of backgrounders and feeders firm to dearer. Export remained strong on last week’s sale. A quality line of Speckle Parks both weaner steers and heifers came to hand and met a very competitive panel of buyers.

J & C McLoughlin, Rolston sold Speckle Park vealer steers for 300c/kg weighing 240kg to return $720.  J & C McLoughlin also sold Speckle Park vealer heifers for 278.2c weighing 227kg to return $631. Speckle Park yearling heifers from J & C McLoughlin sold for 289.2c weighing 288kg to return $835. J & C McLoughlin also sold Speckle Park yearling steers for 256.2c weighing 267kg to return $684. 

Avocavale Farming, Aratula sold Droughtmaster cross grass 2 tooth steers for 268.2c weighing 475kg to return $1273. Gutzke Rural Farming, Coulson sold Droughtmaster cross grain fed heifers for 236.2c weighing 400kg to return $944.  Avocavale Farming also sold Droughtmaster cross feeder steers for 258.2c weighing 484kg to return $1249. 

Pryde Pastoral, Buarraba sold Santa cross feeder heifers for 238.2c weighing 368kg to return $876.  A & M Martin, Kingaroy sold Droughtmaster cross cows for 208.2c weighing 549kg to return $1143.  Cribrum Pastoral Co, Purga sold Droughtmaster cows for 213.2c weighing 640kg to return $1364. Sticklen & Lau sold Charolais bulls for 239.2c weighing 775kg to return $1985.
