Round 10 of the Wagners Risdon Cup saw Roma travel into the city to take on the Toowoomba Rangers. It was was always going to be a tough game for the Echidnas having a lot of players back up from C grade to play A grade. The Rangers side was just too classy for Roma, who had to travel home after a 48-0 loss at Gold Park.
The Condamine Cods hosted ladder leaders Goondiwindi in a thrilling game of running rugby. The Goondiwindi outfit had too much strike power for the Cods running in 48 points at the ‘Fish Tank’ and not letting the Cods get a single point on the board.
The Toowoomba Bears hosted Highfields at Heritage Oval and it was the ever improving Redbacks who were dominant at the start. The young Bears side struggled to move out of their 22, which saw Highfields camped there for the first 20 minutes. Luckily for Bears their defence was too strong any they didn’t concede any points as they worked their way up field. It was the Bears who showed great composure in the end to walk away with a 34-18 victory.
Dalby Wheatmen were up against the Gatton Blackpigs at John Ritter Oval in Dalby. Gatton proved they aren’t no easy beats any more improving to the point that they can make top sides struggle at times. Unfortunately for Gatton they couldn’t keep this up for the whole game and Dalby were too good and knew when to take their opportunities walking away with a 52-12 victory at home.
