Farmfest’s Fantastic Females stud cattle competition has been awarded to Santa Gertrudis Rosehill Matilda cow on Thursday.
The 27-month-old cow had a slick coated four-month-old heifer calf at foot and was exhibited by Rosehill Santa Gertrudis stud owner John McCarthy.
The Rosehill Matilda cow returned to Farmfest’s Fantastic Females competition after winning junior champion tropical female at last year’s Farmfest stud cattle event. The cow and calf unit also was reserve champion Santa Gertrudis senior female at Beef Australia 2018. The impressive female was also awarded reserve junior Santa Gertrudis champion at Queensland Royal Show last year.
The cow is from quality genetics in the Rosehill Santa Gertrudis stud being the first heifer calf by Rosehill Jamieson sire who was sold by the stud for $45,000.
Sixty-three head of Bos Taurus and Bos Indicus stud cattle were paraded in this year’s Farmfest Battle of the Bulls and Fantastic Females competitions.
