What does a feedlot in Russia and Beef, Bling and Bow Ties at Jondaryan Woolshed have in common?
The answer is Hayley Robinson - this year’s special guest speaker at the Women of Lot Feeding’s annual Beef, Bling and Bow Ties.
Ms Robinson’s passion for the feedlot industry came to the forefront on Saturday night when she spoke at the signature event.
Her interesting and inspirational presentation about her two years in Russia with her husband Brad running a 100,000 head feedlot, had the 130 attendees glued to her every word.
Not only did they have to manage the feedlot, they had to educate “the locals” on how to manage the whole supply chain.
This opportunity enabled Ms Robinson to utilise and share the many skills she has acquired working in the Australian industry to benefit an emerging industry over there.
Her final message to the crowd, was “you never know where a career in the feedlot industry can take you”.
People travelled from as far as Brisbane, Wallumbilla and Delungra, NSW, to attend the event. The Jondaryan Woolshed provided the perfect backdrop to create a great opportunity for people to network, catch up with old friends and make new ones.
The MC for the evening, Brendan Kelly from Kellco, utilised his auctioneering skills for the well supported second Beef Up Charity Auction.
The four boxes of premium beef were donated by Kerwee Lot Feeders - (Stockyard Beef), Mort and Co – (Phoenix Brand), Oakey Beef Exports, and the Australian Agricultural Company.
With robust bidding, $3350 was raised for the Leukemia Foundation, Royal Flying Doctor Service, the Heart Foundation and Tie up the Black Dog Foundation. WOLF would like to thank the winning bidders for opening their wallets for such worthy causes.
WOLF vice president Emily Pollock thanked their numerous supporters who helped the event return in 2018.
“All the hard work that goes on behind the scenes is worth it when you see everyone thoroughly enjoying the evening and building their networks within the industry,” Ms Pollock said.
