Another young lady from Queensland’s central region has sub-chamber judging to look forward to as the Queensland Country Life Miss Showgirl competition rolls out around the state for another year.
An agribusiness analyst from Rubyvale, Loretta Hicks, has been named the 2018 Emerald Miss Showgirl.
Filled with a desire to gain as many experiences as possible to apply to a life on the land, Loretta was thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase the wide range of produce grown in her region that the title brings her.
“Our local area contributes enormously to the Australian economy as we have a variety of industries in a small area,” she said. “From cattle to cotton to grapes and even macadamia nuts, it’s extremely important to me that every local in the Emerald area and wider is aware of what’s going on in agriculture around them.”
Genevieve Kane was the Miss Showgirl runner-up, while the 2018 Junior Miss Showgirl and runner-up were Emerald State High School student Caitlin Brewer and Kirralee Wildermuth.
Caitlin is actively involved in the Emerald Touch Association, as a player, a referee and as coach of the under 10s.
She’s planning to study to become a paramedic once she finishes school and said the Junior Miss Showgirl title would help her become more involved in the community.
