There were 1062 head yarded at Elders Harristown Saleyards on Monday, Elders share 762 head. Export categories improved in price, particularly for bullocks and heavy cows. Quality stores also showed some improvement.
Best bulls a/c Errol Fuller, Goombungee, topped at 249.2c/kg to return $1968. Bullocks in pen lots a/c G & J McCormack, Oakey, topped at 276.2c to average $1633. Heavy feeder steers a/c D & F Rollinson, Biddeston, sold for 272.2c. Heavy heifers a/c K & A Cox sold for 254.2c weighing 432kg to return $1099.
Best cows a/c Kevin and Paula Roche, Kulpi weighing 623kg, to return $1354. Very few prime trade cattle were yarded. Trade heifers a/c William Hamblin reached 282.2c, averaging $943, companion steers topping at 259.2c, returning $963.
Feeder steers suitable for the trade a/c J & L Harriman, Highfields, sold an outstanding pen of Simmental cross steers topping out at 263.2c, weighing 336kg, to return $884. The same price was also recorded for a pen of Angus steers, a/c Ted and Mary Scrivener, Goombungee, weighing 359kg, returning $946.
Angus cross store steers a/c J & S Reushle topped at 265.2c with an average weight of 259kg, returning $686. Simmental cross steers a/c McCormack/Shannon, Plainby, sold to 268.2c to return $693.
