Cattle numbers spiked this week for a total listing of 2131 head, an increase of 1349. With the targeted weaner sale on again this week, 1077 steers and 821 heifers made up the bulk of this week’s offering with 151 mixed sexes and 82 cows completing the catalogue.
Heifers averaged 231c/kg and sold to a top of 256c. This top price went to a lot from Balinga Partnership, Millmerran. These Angus heifers are bred from Bowen and Booroomooka blood lines, are aged 12 to 15 months and weigh 293kg. Another highlight is a lot from Clark Bros & Tait, Aramac, a line of Santa and Santa cross heifers, aged 10 to 19 months and weigh 261kg, selling for 226c or $590.
Steers weighing under 300kg averaged 286c and sold to a top of 300c. The top price went to a line of Angus and Angus cross steers offered by Cressaire Pastoral, Goondiwindi. These steers are 7 to 10 months old and weigh 236kg. Steers weighing over 300kg averaged 271c and sold to a top of 279c, the top price going to a line of Shorthorn steers offered by I & J McColl, Goondiwindi. These steers are 8 to 12 months old and weigh 326kg. Another highlight was a lot of Angus cross and Shorthorn cross steers offered by JA & KJ Ekder, Yelarbon which sold for 291c or $910. These steers are 7 to 10 months old and weigh 255kg.
Other highlights include a line of Bellevue blood PTIC Brahman cows, offered by Hillgrove Pastoral, Atherton, which sold for $740. These cows are aged 3 to 10 years, weigh 433kg and are PTIC to Brangus bulls. From Stormy Downs, Millmerran a line of crossbred F1 Wagyu mixed sex feeders sold for 385c or $1315. These mixed sexes are aged 14 to 18 months and weigh 342kg.
Sheep and lamb numbers increased only slightly for a total consignment of 2791 head. Mixed sex lambs made up the majority of the catalogue with 1349 head and the catalogue was completed with 1012 wethers and 430 ewes.
PJ Ellis & S Daley, Goondiwindi, offered a line of Merino and Coolalee / Merino mixed sex lambs which sold for $90. These lambs are October / November 2017 drop and weigh 36kg with a 2” skin. PV & GM Byrnes, Texas, sold a line of Bellvue blood Dorper mixed sex lambs which sold for $90. These lambs are September / October 2017 drop and weigh 33kg.
HH Harris & Sons, Thallon, sold a line of Merryville blood Merino wether lambs for $107.50 and are on their way to their new home down in Central Victoria. These wether lambs are September / October 2017 drop and weigh 36kg with a 2” skin. Glentown Grazing Co, Toobeah, offered a line of Burenbah blood Merino woolgrower wethers which sold for $77. These wethers are rising 2 year olds and weigh 45kg with a 1” skin.
JSK & KA Elmes, Augathella, sold a line of Dorper ewes which made $100. These ewes are aged 2 to 8 years and weigh 63kg.
