A total of 201 head were yarded at Stariha Auctions Woodford cattle sale on Monday. A lot of younger cattle came to hand this week which again saw weaner steers in demand from local restockers.
Weaner heifers and veal held firm to the reduced rates over the last few weeks. Melissa Thornton, Kilcoy, sold lines of Angus and Euro steers, 6 months, for $670-$715. Shane Murphy, Toogoolawah, sold a line of Charolais cross weaner heifers for $825. The Tones Family, Kilcoy, sold a line of 8-10 month old Droughtmaster cross steers for $880.
Colin Draper, Kilcoy, sold milk tooth Droughtmaster cross heifers for $975. Anthony Bennett, Sandy Creek, sold 12 month old Droughtmaster steers for $1040. Trevor Ringelstein, Kilcoy, sold 5 month old Droughtmaster steers for $695.
Michael Green, Neurum, sold 5 month old Droughtmaster calves for $625. Darryl Duncan, Mt Mee, sold 6 month old Blonde steers for $720.
