THE property officially recognised as being at the exact centre of Queensland is on the market. Offered by John and Joy Hardie, Verastan is located 125km north of Longreach and 28km north west of Muttaburra.

It is the first time the 12,184 hectare (30,106 acre) freehold property has been offered in 64 years. Verastan features an impressive body of feed following 225mm rain earlier in the year.

The country is described as undulating open Mitchell grass downs country with some coolibah creek lines. The property is noted for its picturesque hills, which offer a potential tourism opportunity.

There are also two flowing artesian bores, which is piped to supply tanks and troughs across the property.

Improvements include a four bedroom homestead with a large cold room, sheds, hangar, two sets of cattle yard, sheep yards and a six stand shearing shed. The homestead features large living areas and is set in established gardens.

The property is divided into 11 main grazing paddocks, laneways and holding paddocks.

A significant amount of station plant is being offered with the property, including a 4WD Kubota tractor, a truck, 4WD vehicle, motorbikes, welder, pumps, and a Wombat feed mixer.

Marketing agent Ben Forrest, Colliers International, said Verastan was a very attractive cattle, sheep or tourism property.

“Central Western Queensland stacks up extremely well in terms of value,” Mr Forrest said. “Verastan will certainly create plenty of interest.”

Verastan will be auctioned in Brisbane on June 8. Contact Ben Forrest, 0427 580 000, Colliers International.
