There were 1536 head yarded at Elders Harristown Saleyards on Monday. No sale last week saw an increase in numbers. Boner cows remained firm with isolated sales bucking the trend to improve slightly. Increased numbers of plainer weaner stores saw the prices ease.
Best bulls a/c Terry Chapman, Nobby topped at 236.2c/kg. Aged bullocks a/c David Andrew, Highfields returned $1426. A line of feeder steers ex Goombungee a/c Dumfries Grazing sold to $1163.
Brahman heifers a/c NJ Sloss, Oakey sold to $1375 with cows selling to 205.2c. Quality boner cows sold from 180-190c, while trade cattle in limited numbers sold from 260-270c.
A line of 238 Hereford mixed sex lightweight weaners ex Tibooburra, NSW, male portion averaging $456 per head, steer portion $603 and heifer portion $422. A pen of Euro cross steers a/c Estate of RE Black & Co topped at 289.2c returning $860.
