Numbers reduced by over 2000 head to 3701 at Dalby on Wednesday and similar to the previous week cattle were drawn from a wide area with 1100 from western NSW and 670 from far western Queensland with the remainder from the local supply area.
Yearling steers 280-330kg to feed improved in price while medium and heavy weight yearling steers at the time of this interim report have experienced very little change in price. Heavy grown setters and bullocks sold to firm demand for the quality penned.
Cows generally gained 2c to 4c and up to 7c/kg on the good heavy cows with some of this improvement due to the high yielding cows from western NSW.
Yearling steers to feed 280-330kg were up 13c making 295.2c with those in the 330-400kg range making from 253.2c to 286.2c. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made from 221.2c to 249.2c averaging 243.3c.
Grown steers 400-500kg made from 178.2c to 259.2c with grown heifers under 540kg making 174.2c to 190.2c.
Medium weight cows sold from 156.2c to 186.2c with heavy weights making to 215.2c. The best heavy weight bull made 233.2c.
