It was a small but quality showing in the Belgian Blue ring at Beef Australia 2018.
With only two exhibits, it was obvious that Jambili would take Grand Champion male and female, but judge Martin Lill, NSW, said it was great to see such quality in the cattle.
Jambili Marcia was exhibited in the junior female category and Mr Lill said the heifer was a tremendous exhibit.
“I'm nothing if not completely blown away by the quality of this female,” he said.
“In a similar vain to the Dexter that have a specific purpose, Belgian Blues are a very niche market but this female is doing everything right.
“I’m really taken by her fluidity and capacity to move around the ring whilst carrying that much bulk.
“I also really like the refinement up front and I've spoken about this before in a few other breeds, the balance of refinement while carrying a hell of a lot of carcass, that's really impressed me.”
Jambili Matfield was exhibited in the junior bull category and Mr Lill said the more he looked at the bull the more he liked.
“He's a bull that moves around the ring perhaps a little more staccato than the heifer we saw in the previous class and perhaps a little straighter in the shoulder, but I really like this bull's fluidity and the freedom in his joints while carrying his classic double-muscle pattern.
“He's a bull of moderate performance but he's coupled this with extra length and I really like this and smoothness through the front end.
“A really tremendous exhibit and example of the breed.”
