Welcome to the Queensland cattle market round-up.
It’s been a week of downwards market price correction for our Queensland cattle markets.
As you can see the black line is the 2018 Eastern Young Cattle Market Indicator movements, and it’s certainly below the green 2017 and grey 2016 lines.
Yarding numbers fell at Roma’s Store Sale with the cattle starting to show signs of the dry season.
A total of 5900 head were penned. Weaner steers prices fell to between 293c/kg and 303c/kg. Domestic feeder steers averaged 282c/kg. Weaner heifers averaged 253c/kg.
No market in Dalby with the ANZAC Day commemorations.
Alice Spring annual sale was held last Thursday with 2100 head penned. Good weaner steers averaged 256c/kg.
At Gracemere, weaner steers sold around 282c/kg, while well-bred steer cavles sold to 334c/kg. Heifer calves averaged 227c/kg.
A total of 2500 head of cattle were yarded at Emerald’s cattle sale last Thursday with slight declines in prices. Steer calves averaged 330c/kg and weaner steers sold around 293c/kg.
