Roma hosted the reigning premiers Dalby at Gallas Fox Park over the weekend. Roma weren’t afraid to come out firing against the Wheatmen and really had them on the back foot in parts of the game. Unfortunately for the Echidnas, Dalby were just too good, running nine tries and Daniel Merker kicking five conversions.
There are promising signs at Roma this year and it won’t be too long before they get their first win of the season. Wheatmen captain Sam Hogarth ran in three tries to get his side a 55-12 win over Roma at Roma.
Toowoomba Bears hosted USQ at Heritage Oval, and both sides will be disappointed with performances in a scrappy affair. USQ crossed the line again within minutes of the second half through winger Inoke Tagituimua.
The second half became very scrappy and Bears struggled to find any field position as USQ camped in the Bears 22 time after time for a number of repeat scrums. It looked promising for USQ that more points would soon come but Bears finally got some attacking ball and scored after the 80th minute. Andre Van Staden was all class with USQ winning 15-5 over Bears at Heritage Oval.

Cods outside centre Charlie Friend showed his talent again and bagged a double but Rangers proved to be too good for the away side. With great field position Rangers had clean ball from big ball carries and the tries flowed in. Rangers' Murray Brandon scored a hat-trick with his side winning 36-22 over the Cods.
Goondiwindi proved to be too good for a young Gatton side running in 11 unanswered tries with James Scanlan, Tom Jobling and Sean Cairns all scoring hat-tricks.
It has been a tough two weeks for Gatton facing two of the premiership favourite sides one after the other. The young boys will learn from this experience and will only be better for it. Goondiwindi won 69-0 over Gatton at Gatton.
