Monto Cattle & Country’s Annual Charbray Feature Sale saw a quality yarding of 620 head presented to judge Brad Hansen from Hourn & Bishop, Moura.
A total yarding of 1620 head was put forward with some great lines of cattle particularly No.7 steers and heifers and quality weaner steers.
Champion Male Charbrays for 2018 was won by Barry and Carole Whitaker, Rolling Hills, Eidsvold which also won the Pen of Steers 18 months and over and sold to Smithfield Cattle Co for 277c/kg to average 447.5kg and returned $1240.50.
Harold and Pam Dwyer of Biggenden supported the sale well consigning a B-double of quality weaners from their Cracow property, Boughyard.
What exceptional temperament these weaners had and were judged Best Steers to 10 months and Best Steers 10-18 months with the heavier steers weighing 329kg and returning $1055 and lighter steers 263kg selling to 365c/kg or $960 and all to Redrock Cattle Co which put together an exceptional line of 150 steers.
Nagel Bennett won Champion Pen of Prime Bullocks with 4-tooth bullocks 654kg which realised $1820 or 289c/kg.
Once again Bev Marbach came to the fore in the female section winning Champion Heifers Overall and Best Heifers over 18 months which sold to 270c/kg or $1130.
George and Cathy Hoare, Rockview Cattle Co, Blackwater won Best Pen of Weaner Heifers selling to Hatton and Sons for 306c/kg to return $782.
Les & Anne Marshall’s, Greenfields, Jambin won Heifers over 10-18 months which sold to 258c/kg or $872 to Brisbane Valley Protein.
The Bennett Family Trust also won Best Prime Heifers which sold to Teys at Biloela for 264c/kg or $1525.
