QATC is opening Berrigurra Station as part of the Beef Australia Property Tour program on Thursday, May 10.
Berrigurra, 20km north-west of Blackwater, is a 9300-hectare QATC-owned property used by Emerald Agricultural College and Longreach Pastoral College to give students experience in cattle production and stock handling.
Visitors can expect to see a variety of digital technology practices in use on the tour.
Demonstrations include telemetry technology for animal recording, cattle performance recording, and in water infrastructure management. The use of drones to muster and monitor livestock, and the Aglive and Maia Grazing software programs will be showcased.
This tour will allow visitors to see a beef enterprise that has embraced and adopted current commercial and precommercial digital technologies to improve the management of the property infrastructure.
In the next five years QATC plans to showcase a world best-practice production-scale beef enterprise demonstrating opportunities for visitors to introduce technology into their enterprises to boost productivity.
Following the tour, QATC CEO Mark Tobin will present a seminar on “Matching Industry Training to a Technology-Rich Future Beef Industry” on Friday, May 11, from 12pm to 1pm in the Sidney Kidman Pavilion.
Be sure to visit QATC at the Graeme Acton Way Training Hub at site G278, and the Sidney Kidman Pavilion Training Hub at site 52P, within the whole of Queensland Government site. Both sites will be open daily from 8.30am to 5.30pm.
QATC is also the proud sponsor of the Young Parader's Competition in the Centre Ring on May 7 from 8.30am to 11.30am. This competition provides opportunities for the next generation of industry leaders to showcase their skills.
