JERICHO beef cattle producers Greg and Jan Gibson are selling their Richmond district assets Strathpark and Ardbrin in order to restructure their business.

The sale of Strathpark is an opportunity for buyers to procure a cow calf operation in a reliable rainfall area with economies of scale and genetics suited to a wide range of markets.

Ardbrin’s open Mitchell grass Downs country offers synergies in combination with Strathpark, being an ideal weaner depot. Both properties are being offered for sale by tender and can be purchased as a whole or separately.

Strathpark located is 140km north of Richmond. It is being offered as a going concern, with plant and about 11,000 head of branded cattle consisting of 7500 cows with replacements, followers, and also includes numerous clean-skin weanable calves and smaller calves.

The fertile cow herd is predominately good quality high grade Grey Brahmans, selected to produce bullocks. The current program is retained heifers remain on property to be joined, while cull heifers and steers being grown out and fattened on southern country then sold to works.

Infrastructure is well balanced with the production capability of the property. There are seven sets of strategically located yards. Cattle do not have to be walked back to their paddock but simply let out of yards which minimises miss-mothering and handling stress.

The cattle are in good condition, with many calves on the ground Strathpark is ready to slot straight into an existing production system or is an attractive stand-alone operation. Ardbrin is also being offered for sale by the same vendor, presenting immediate production synergies.

Located 80km south of Maxwelton, Ardbrin is also equidistant from Mount Isa and Townsville offering good access to either live export outlet.

Ardbrin is securely watered having a flowing bore and has been running about 2000 spayed heifers to meatworks weights.

Both Strathpark and Ardbrin have had good rain in 2018. The calf factory Strathpark is described as being “bulging” with weaners offering an immediate flow of calves, weaners and fat cows. On Ardbrin the Mitchell grass is responding well to recent rain and is ready to receive cattle for backgrounding or fattening.
