Following strong interest from across the red meat supply chain, nominations for the 2018 Beef Industry Awards have been extended to Friday March 16.

The awards aim to find the best in Australia’s red meat industry, with winners set to be announced at a special evening at Beef 2018 in Rockhampton in May.

Categories include Queensland Country Life’s Red Meat Achiever of the Year, Rabobank Young Beef Ambassador, Australian Registered Cattle Breeders Association R.W Vincent Award and Meat and Livestock Australia’s Producer Innovation Award.

Queensland Country Life editor, Penelope Arthur, said momentum for the awards was building ahead of Beef 2018.

“We’re delighted with the interest we’ve had in the awards and would like to give those yet to get their nominations in a little more time,” she said.

“In particular we’re keen to see some more nominations for the MLA Producer Innovation Award.”

MLA managing director, Richard Norton, said the MLA award recognised beef producers who were using innovative methods, technologies or business models.

“The winner will receive the award at Beef Australia 2018 and have their innovation showcased to the red meat and livestock industry. MLA will also offer the winner support to refine and develop their concept further,” he said.

Nomination forms can be downloaded from the Queensland Country Life’s Beef 2018 microsite.

Nominations will close for all categories on Friday March 16.
