A total of 563 head were sold at Stariha Auctions Laidley cattle sale on Thursday. A quality yarding saw the market remain very strong throughout. Heavy feeders were stronger, while quality weaners sold to very high values, producing some excellent results for vendors.
Anthony and Rachel Washband, Tarampa, sold quality Limousin cattle with a line of cows selling for $1500. Their 8 month old weaners sold for outstanding results, with heifers making $1240 and steers $860. Several lines of 6 month old Charbray steer calves out of Ingoldsby sold for $900-$905.
A run of 125 Droughtmaster cross cattle out of, Foxleigh Station, Middlemount, sold to high rates, with 3 year old steers selling for $1700, 4 tooth steers $1600, lines of 18-22 month old steers selling for $1310-$1370 and 10-12 month old heifers for $940, to produce an overall average of $1163. Daniel Richards, Kilcoy, sold milk tooth steers and heifers for $1060.
Fred and Lexi Scott, Veradilla, sold 18 month old Limousin steers for $1280 and heifers for $1060. Jilrift P/L, Thornton, sold 10-12 month old Charolais weaners, with steers making $990 and heifers $910. Mark Baker, Blenheim, sold lines of 6-7 month old Charbray calves, with steers making $940 and heifers $805. Col Duncan, Flagstone Creek, sold Charolais cross steers 8-10 months for $895 and 6-7 month old steers for $850.
Troy and Melinda Turner, Rosewood, sold a line of Angus weaner steers, 10 months, for $875. Zabel Brothers, Coolana, sold Droughtmaster cows and calves for $1600. Gerald Handley, Lockyer, sold a line of Blonde cows and calves for $1420.
