Roma prime heifers make 272c


Buyers were operating in a fair market at this week's Roma prime sale on February 22 with prices reflecting quality and condition.


​A total yarding of 1010 head of cattle were penned at Roma’s prime sale on Thursday, February 22.

Steers over 550kg sold to 270c/kg and averaged 250c, while steers in the 400-550kg sold to 263c, averaging 247c.

WJ&JE Scott, Budgerygar, Quilpie sold Santa steers for 266c at 568kg returning $1514/head. Elkedra Past. Co., Stamford Downs, Hughenden sold Santa cross steers for 263c at 502kg returning $1321. Gladys Downs Pastoral Co. Pty. Ltd, Gladys Downs, Augathella sold Santa steers for 257c at 599kg returning $1541. Scott Cattle Co, Thylungra Station, Quilpie sold Santa steers for 230c at 589kg returning $1356.

Heifers over 450kg made to 272c and averaged 261c, heifers in the 350-450kg sold to 272c, averaging 259c.

Reynella Grazing Co, Reynella, Charleville sold Simmental cross heifers for 272c at 519kg returning $1416. The Droughtmaster bulls sold for 268c at 880kg returning $2,360. Cows over 500kg peaked at 228c and averaged 216c, while cows in the 400-500kg class topped at 241c and averaged 202c. Cows 300-400kg sold to 214c and averaged 191c.

Nugent Pastoral Co, Tambo Station, Tambo sold Santa cows for 227c at 581kg returning $1322. Foyleview Pastoral Co, Foyleview, Mitchell sold Simbrah cows for 223c at 581kg returning $1298. Albury Pastoral Co sold Brahman cows for 222c at 470kg returning $1045. Brad Howe, Aberdeen, Yuleba sold Santa cross cows for 220c at 605kg returning $1332.

Bulls over 600kg earned to 268c and averaged 248c.
