Agents Boyd O’Brien Bartholomew reported a dearer market for all descriptions at their Moreton Sale on Tuesday. There were 527 head of cattle yarded, and vealers and yearlings met strong competition.
Open auction calves sold well above vendors’ expectations. Both Backgrounders and feeder steers sold firm to dearer and export cattle were in demand.

Yearling heifers account D & M Staatz, Gatton, sold for 279.2c weighing 360kg to return $1005. Yearling steers account P Laycock, Eskdale, sold for 304.2c weighing 320kg to return $973.
Feeder steers account R Sippel, Woodford, sold for 284.2c weighing 360kg to return $1023. Feeder heifers account N & A Ferrar, Anthony, sold for 280.2c weighing 330kg to return $924.
Grain assist steers account Jagera Farming, Wooroolin, sold for 320.2c weighing 425kg to return $1360. C Schmidt, Toogoolawah, sold grain heifers for 278.2c weighing 390kg to return $1085. Pasture heifers account D & M Staatz, Gatton, sold for 283.2c weighing 500kg to return $1416.
