The Churchill Abattoir which closed its doors in September last year after its’ biggest retailing client Woolworths cut ties, has been placed on the market.
Selling agent Mark Harrison, Queensland Water Brokers, confirmed on Monday, Churchill Abattoir is listed at $50 million.
Owned by Barry Moule and Simon Hall of Sunny Queen Eggs, the facility is capable of processing 500 head of cattle a day.
Included in the sale is 102.8 hectares (254 acres) of freehold land, operational plant and equipment, boning room capable of 500 head/day, and a modern cold room of 500 tonne/500 pallet capacity.
“It offers large scale beef producers looking to market their branded beef an affordable entry into the Australian beef market,” Mr Harrison said.
“Since we listed the abattoir for sale last Thursday it has created interest from both the domestic and international interests.
“The property also holds appeal as ‘a land bank for future residential development’.”
Managing director and CEO of Churchill Abattoir, Mr Moule said the sale of Churchill situated in the south east corner of Queensland offers investors an affordable entry into the Australian Beef Industry.
“It has readily accessible to cattle markets, has a local well trained workforce, and is currently certified as a domestic abattoir,” Mr Moule said.
“Export Certification will enhance the existing operation, and Churchill has undertaken the Gap Analysis to transition to export, and these costings are available to potential investors.”
