On the doorstep of their 25th anniversary sale, agents Geaney’s and McCaffrey’s Australian Livestock Marketing believe all participants and stakeholders involved over the years with the Big Country Brahman Sale should be extremely proud of its success and its wonderful, beneficial contribution to the Brahman breed and to the beef cattle industry of Central and Northern Australia, and of its long time high standing among the leading lights of the Nation’s seedstock auction markets.
“We could not have hoped for a more impressive sale line-up than the 358 high quality lots leading Brahman Studs from across Queensland have catalogued for the two day feature sale event,” Ken McCaffery said.
On Monday, February 5, 142 Red Brahman stud sires and herd bulls will go under the hammer from 10am. Immediately following the Red bulls, 49 well bred stud heifers will be offered. The following day, Tuesday, February 6 from 8:30am, 167 Grey Brahman stud sires and herd bulls will be offered.
“With a huge 133 Poll or Scurred lots catalogued, the sale boasts the largest selection of poll genetic lots ever offered in Northern Australia. The Red bull offering is also the biggest in Australia outside Rocky’s Brahman Week,” he said.
“On type, pedigree and quality it is a commanding sale selection that should excite all studmasters, Red or Grey. Impressive, genetically strong sire types are plentiful through the catalogue, some rank with the tops of last Spring’s sales.
“Mindful of servicing the herd bull demands of commercial cattle producers, we’ve sourced excellent lines of strong beef performance, quiet temperament, high quality, working age bulls suited to optimum paddock and progeny performance.”
“They will sell at prices attractive to quality steer breeders,” Jim Geaney said.
Once again the sale will be available worldwide, online through Elite Livestock Auctions viewing or bidding.
“The strength of the Silver Anniversary sale offering is highlighted through a glance at the vendor stud’s represented this year. Our inspections indicate many vendors have held their premier bulls back for Big Country 25,” Mr McCaffery said.
“In the Reds Muan, Kariboe Valley, Ooline, Lanes Creek, Rockley, Somerview, Samari Plains, Palmvale, Somerton, Palmal, Carinya M are included while Grey teams will be on offer from Cambil, Clukan, FBC, Lanes Creek, Palmal, Leichhardt, Carinya M, Kenilworth, Annavale, Hamdenvale, HH Park, Raglan and others.”
A program of Silver Anniversary promotions and social functions will be staged over the sale days, involving vendors and sale visitors.
“We invite all Brahman enthusiasts and cattle producers to come along and join in this important historical occasion.”
