THE LNP has overwhelmingly elected Deb Frecklington as its new leader following a post-election party room meeting in Brisbane this afternoon.
Mrs Frecklington (Nanango) defeated John-Paul Langbroek (Surfers Paradise) and Mark Robinson (Oodgeroo) for the position.
It is understood Mrs Frecklington secured 26 votes, Mr Langbroek 10 votes and Mark Robinson three votes.
Mrs Frecklington is the first female leader of the LNP.
Ms Frecklington has teamed up with Brisbane-based Tim Mander (Everton), who will serve as her deputy.
The new leader was selected by the LNP’s 39 members of parliament.
The next Queensland state election is scheduled to be held on October 31, 2020.
