SOME of the best bull riders in the nation will be at Leppington in New South Wales for an Xtreme Bulls night on Saturday. (Nov 25).
The Queensland contingent at Leppington include Jake Whalan (Giru Qld) and Troy Berry (Biloela Qld).
The Xtreme Bulls at Leppington will be the second bulls only rodeo in a fortnight in NSW.
Gill Brothers from Upper Horton, NSW, are transporting their bucking bulls to Lockies Hotel at Leppington for the 7pm Saturday event.
The bull ride is for championship points in the Australian Professional Rodeo Association.
The APRA season goes from October 1 to September 30 and the top 15 bull riders will qualify for next year’s Warwick Rodeo APRA National Finals.
After this weekend, NSW rodeo action moves to Young where there is a championships points rodeo with action in all eight APRA events on December 2 at the Young Equine and Livestock Centre.
A rodeo with action in all eight events will be held at The Rock, near Wagga Wagga, on December 16,
Young bull ride Ben Thorp finished second in championships points in the 2017 APRA season to September 30 but was unplaced in the finals in Warwick.
He will be one of the favourites for all of the three remaining NSW rodeos this year which are a pre-runner to the start of the Christmas Run of six rodeos starting at Myrtleford in Victoria on December 26 and finishing at Beechworth in Victoria on January 6.
Two of the Christmas Run rodeos are in NSW – Tumbarumba on January 1 next year and Finley on January 5.
