A push to see local school sports facilities upgraded has led the Injune P-10 State School P&C to drive an extra special fundraising project this spring.
The P&C will host the inaugural Beef in the Buffel Ball on Saturday October 21 in what is shaping up to be the ‘night of nights’ for Injune.
Guests will enjoy canapes and a three course meal under a shower of fairy lights in the school’s multi-purpose shed as part of the black tie event.
President of the Injune P-10 State School P&C, Leah Scott, said the organising committee had been overwhelmed by the support of local businesses and the community.
“We’ve already sold about 80 per cent of the tickets and would dearly love to sell out,” she said.
“The whole community has really got behind the idea – people are actually emailing us now and sending us messages on our Facebook page asking if they can support it.”

The event aims to raise funds to redevelop a second oval at the Injune State School and also provide some lighting in the multi-purpose shed and oval to allow for sporting games and activities to be held at night.
Ms Scott said the second oval required irrigation and the P&C hoped to raise enough funds to install rainwater tanks and infrastructure to allow that. “We need to improve the surface and make it safe to play on and once we’ve done that we’d like to encourage other groups in our community to come and use our beautiful facilities,” she said.
Ms Scott said the ball would feature live music from South West Duo, lucky door prizes and the auction of donated works of art and an accommodation package at the Gold Coast.
The platinum sponsor is The Southport School (TSS) and gold sponsors include SJH Builders, NAB, Injune Cypress and the Hartley family. For tickets visit the Beef in the Buffel Facebook page.
