In excess of 60 students and their families spent the last weekend of their spring holidays doing all things cattle at the Toogoolawah Show Society Junior Cattle Camp on the weekend.
According to one of the mums participating, Alison Mobbs, the weekend included instruction in all aspects of showing cattle and featured both parading and judging competitions.
“A massive line-up of Simmentals were in attendance as well as a range of other breeds, with instruction and judging by invited industry professionals,” Alison said.
“Having the younger (20-something) generation leading instruction and organisation of the three age groups was a standout success, supported by the older generation in the background and feeding the masses.”
She said camps such as this were the backbone of the industry.
The weekend incorporated a charity auction with a percentage of the proceeds donated to Livit.
Some 92 items were auctioned and a cheque for $2480 was presented.
