In addition to the traditional Meet and Greet being held after the first day of action at the ABCA Rockhampton Brahman Sale on the Monday, October 9, the Elders Legacy of Ladies Sale will again take place at the Gracemere Hotel at 7.30pm.
The six vendors have selected one heifer each for inclusion in the sale which will be conducted as a live auction utilising AuctionsPlus with the aid of photos and videos of the sale lots.
Last year all five heifers catalogued sold for an average of $12,900, with Telpara Hills Miss Foundation 468L9, offered by the Pearce family, Telpara Hills, Atherton, topping the sale at $37,000.
The stud will attempt to replicate their 2016 success with Lot 5 Telpara Hills Miss Van Damme 15M3, the first daughter of the $110,000 record Brangus bull Telpara Hills Van Damme 541H30 that has been offered.
“At only 16 months of age, she already weighs 628kg and scanned an incredible 6.8 per cent IMF. She must be seen in person to truly appreciate her,” Brittany Pearce said.
Bruce and Leanne Woodward, Bonox Brangus, Taroom will present Lot 1, Bonox B944, who they said was selected for the sale for her lovely quiet temperament.
“She’s a good heifer who I would use myself and she’s was sired by Bonox 330 who has produced a lot of other cows for us that have performed well,” Bruce said.
Sue Fawcett, Lazy S Brangus Stud, Condamine, said Lot 2, Lazy S Miss Edna’s Victoree 2nd is the latest exceptional heifer from the famous Edna line which can be traced back to the start of the Brangus breed.
“She’s in-calf to Bonox 823 and she will be an asset to any Brangus herd,” Sue said.
Lot 3 Lunar Matilda M14 from vendors Brad and Briony Comiskey, and Dennis and Claire Couper, Lunar Brangus, Springsure is described as a “quality feminine heifer” out of Lunar Norbit.
“We’re very impressed with the calves Norbit is producing, and Matilda has consistently placed at local shows this year,” Brad said.
Neville and Megan Hansen, Oaklands Brangus, Kalapa will offer Oaklands Miss Webcke 920L6 in Lot 4.
“She’s a powerful, yet feminine and well-balanced heifer and carries a positive preg test to Oaklands Smooth Operator,” Neville said.
