One of the Westech Field Day’s tireless workers was remembered with a special tribute in the horse arena during the field days this week.
The organisation’s vice president and passionate horse advocate, Terri-Ann Rosenow lost her battle with breast cancer two months ago.
Two encouragement awards were presented in Terri-Ann’s memory this year, to the most improved participant from the select group of 12 given the opportunity to work with Longreach Pastoral College instructor, John Arnold each day.
The two awardees were Brittany Hannay, Aramac, and Charlotte Masters from Alpha.
Mr Arnold said the clinics had come about as the result of a conversation between himself and Terri-Ann, and he’d been proud to wear pink in her honour.
Westech secretary, Sally Newton, said it was a wonderful initiative, especially as clinics can cost a lot to attend.
“These are offered free of charge and people were so appreciative when they were able to be a part of it,” she said.
Sixty people put in for the clinics, with 12 selected each day.
Sally said she had given Terri-Ann her vow the horsemanship clinics would remain on the program, adding that the encouragement awards would continue in her name, as long as John Arnold and the Pastoral College continued to offer the clinics.
In future years a fee may be charged, to be donated to a breast cancer research cause.
