A 13 months old fullblood Wagyu bull, with Breedplan figures in the top one per cent of the breed for Terminal Carcase Index, Marble Score and Marble Fineness, sold for $88,000 during the September Premium Wagyu sale on AuctionsPlus.
Macquarie M0480 was offered by Macquarie Wagyu from Leyburn in Queenland and purchased by a Sydney-based newcomer to the Wagyu breed. Semen will be collected.
M0480 is by a leading TCI sire Macquarie Y408 and from a Sumo dam.
At the same online simultaneous sale 19 Fullblood females sold from $3100 to $5600 and averaged $4032.
Last month a Darley Purebred Wagyu bull sold on AuctionsPlus for $65,000 and in May a Mayura Fullblood Wagyu bull sold for $105,000, the auction record for a Wagyu bull in Australia, at the Elite Wagyu sale at the annual Wagyu conference.
