Some people just prefer blondes!

And that was certainly the case at this year’s Royal Queensland Blonde D’Aquitaine stud cattle judging ring.

The Aisthorpe family’s passion for producing high yielding carcase cattle with excellent eating quality as part of their commercial beef operation at Monto led to them developing a Blonde D’Aquitaine stud.

Now, the Aisthorpes can add a grand champion Blonde D’Aqitaine exhibit at Royal Queensland Show to their collection of beef industry awards.

Their bull called Meridan Lawson also won champion bull in the Blonde judging ring who was a calf on a cow the Aisthorpe family’s Monal Blondes stud purchased from Meridan Blonde stud.

“The bull has always been a standout and that’s part of the reason we purchased the high quality cow to go into our Monal Blonde stud,” Peter Aisthorpe said.

The 20-month-old bull weighted in at 838 kilograms with an Eye Muscle Area of 134 square centimetres.

Mr Aisthorpe said the Lawson bull will now be prepared to compete at Beef 2018, plus they plan for him to return to Ekka next year to defend the Blonde D’Aquitaine grand champion exhibit title.

“We’re hoping he’s over 1000kg by Beef next year and I think the bull is on track to do it!” he said.

Keeping it in the same stud, 20-month-old Meridan Liberty took out the champion cow or heifer title.
