A MINUTE’S silence was held as a tribute to “dedicated family man” Brent Acton, shortly after the Cloncurry Merry Muster’s Street Parade.
Merry Muster committee members Aaron Ryan and Keith Douglas led the silence from the back of a utility vehicle last Thursday evening, and requested attendees to remove their hats. “It’s been a tough 24 hours here in Cloncurry. We will keep him here in our thoughts and prayers this weekend,” they said.
Mr Acton died in a helicopter crash north of the town on Wednesday. Cloncurry mayor Greg Campbell said Mr Acton was a dedicated family man to wife Shona and sons Ned and Robert.
He had flown with Mr Acton many times and considered him a great pilot. “I am sure I can speak for the Cloncurry community, grazing and aviation Industries when I say Brent is going to be greatly missed.”
“His family will be supported in whatever ways are needed.”
Cr Campbell thanked emergency services and Ergon Energy for their professionalism, especially considering many of them were friends of Mr Acton.
“Our support and thoughts extend to the team at Cloncurry Mustering Company.
“At this time, I would ask that people respect the families right to grieve together privately and we continue with our thoughts, prayers and have our support ready when the family needs it.”
