An innovative move by NCC Brahmans to market a line of red and grey Brahman stud heifers and genetic lots through a dedicated, timed online auction last week proved a success for the stud and captured the attention of many stud industry participants.
Using Elite Livestock Auctions and running over three days, the auction recorded a total of 336 bids from 31 individual bidders, for the 16 lots offered and sold. NCC Studmaster Brett Nobbs was pleased with the response to the sale, which he said suited the mid-year, small offering placement of his draft of young females.
“Everything proceeded smoothly and we received complimentary comments from many of the bidders and buyers about the suitability of this online type of event for sales of this size,” Mr Nobbs said. “There were up to 53 bids on individual lots, and bidding action was quite spirited over many of the lots towards the close of the sale.”
The 13 month old grey heifer NCC Cindy Manso 3631, by Three D Platinum, was the Sale topper at $16,800. Gavin and Dillon Scott, Rosetta Grazing, Collinsville were the successful bidders. $16,000 was recorded for NCC Lady Power 3438, an impressive grey daughter of JDH Mr Elmo Manso. She was one of two quality females purchased by Jason Waugh and Arlie Becker, Crown JA Brahmans, Meandarra. In the Reds it was the attractive 19 month old NCC Cindy 3564 which attracted top money of $12,000, paid by Ken and Wendy Cole, Kenrol Brahmans, Gracemere.
Will and Tracey Fenech, FBC Brahmans, Wowan bid to $10,200 to secure a PTIC recipient carrying a calf of JDH Massai Manso x FBC D Miss Charmer Manso 471 breeding, and due to deliver in early August, while the other PTIC recipient package made $7000. This carried a red bred calf with the donor being the ultra successful NCC Dienka 238 cow. Mark and Belinda Wilson, Banana Station, Banana secured this lot.
Studs investing in well bred NCC heifers included Sevenmile Brahmans, Marian; Yeppen Lagoon Stud, Rockhampton; Vella Brahmans, Marlborough; Avee Stud, Wowan; Oak Park Stud, Einasleigh, etc. Sale prices ranged from $4000 to $16,800.
