Numbers increased by 953 at this week’s Dalby sale, with a yarding of 5563 and a full panel of buyers present, including some additional buyers in the feeder section.
Heavy weight yearling steers to feed improved in price by 12c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed also gained 11c. Medium weight grown steers to feed were noticeably dearer. Cows at the time of this interim report have sold to a firm to a slightly dearer trend.
Medium weight yearling steers to feed in the 330-400kg range made from 323.2c to 360c while light weight yearling heifers to restockers sold from 321.2c to 341.2c, averaging 335.5c.
Grown steers in the 400-500kg range made 272.2c to 322.2c. Grown heifers traded from 260.2c to 279.2c/kg. Heavy cows sold from 236.2c to 255c and averaged 245.7c. The best bull made 374.2c.
