New Holland sets soybean harvest world record

New Holland has set a new world record with its CR8.90 combine, harvesting 440 tonnes of soybean in eight hours.

NEW Holland Agriculture is laying claim to a new world record after harvesting an impressive 440 tonnes of soybeans in eight hours with the CR8.90 combine.

New Holland product marketing director Dan Valen said the world record demonstrated the power and productivity of the CR8.90.

“Similar to the CR10.90 smashing the world record for wheat harvesting in 2014, the CR8.90 delivered an exceptional performance in setting this record,” Mr Valen said.

“Both of these accomplishments reinforce the New Holland CR Series and Twin Rotor technology as best-in-class, worldwide.”

The record was set at the Mingori Brothers’ Villa Panambi farm in the Bahia State of Brazil on April 5, with the support of their dealer Jaraguá Bahia, based in nearby Luiz Eduardo Magalhães City.

On record setting day, moisture was high due to 15mm rain at 5am, and temperature ranged from 25.2-28 degrees Celcius. Harvesting started at 10.30am and finished at 5.30pm, having harvested about 90ha (222 acres).

CR8.90’s average throughput was 55t/hour in a crop yielding an average of 4.89t/ha, and 17 per cent average moisture content. The record-setting performance and efficiency was achieved by harvesting 528kg of soybean per litre of fuel and overseen and verified by the official adjudicator RankBrasil, which certified the record.

The CR8.90 follows on from the range topping CR10.90, which proved it is the world’s highest capacity combine when it captured the record for harvesting an impressive 798t of wheat in eight hours in 2014. That record holds to this day.

Mr Valen said CR combines were able to achieve such outstanding performances thanks to New Holland’s innovative Twin Rotor technology; IntelliSteer auto guidance; Twin Pitch Plus rotor technology that can improve capacity in high moisture conditions; and the optional Dynamic Feed Roll with integrated dynamic stone protection, which enhances crop flow into the rotors and reduces grain crackage.
