Strong demand at Dalby

Strong demand at Dalby

Numbers were slightly down at Dalby this week, but demand was strong and prices improved.

There was small reduction in numbers, with 3016 cattle yarded at Dalby on Wednesday.

Buyer attendance was good and included all the regular feeder buyers and export processors.

Most classes of feeder cattle were in demand.

A lift in the quality of the heavy grown steers and bullocks saw average prices improve and cows sold very close the previous week's level.

Light weight yearling steers made from 327.2c to 354.2c and averaged 352.1c and medium weights averaged 346.4c/kg.

Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to 339.2c and averaged 330.3c/kg.

Grown steers in the 500-600kg range made from 286.2c to 311.2c up 20c to average 301.1c/kg.

Heavy weight cows made from 245.2c to 259.2c to average 252.3c/kg.

The best bull made 318.2c/kg.
