Values continued to remain very firm with little change in the trade cattle and feeder types at the April 18 Moreton prime sale.


Agents Boyd O’Brien Bartholomew reported a yarding of 748 head of cattle at Moreton on April 18. Values continued to remain very firm with little change in the trade cattle and feeder types. All others sold on a dearer market, especially bullocks and cows which met spirited competition and sold to rates dearer than last week.

M&V Binstead, Palen Creek sold Santa cross Yearling heifers for 331.2c weighing 246kg to return $816. Charolais cross yearling heifers from Michael Burns F/T sold for 323.2c weighing 337kg returning $1091. Euro cross yearling steers from G Robinson, Gatton sold for 363.2c weighing 222kg to return $808.

P&C Rogers sold Charolais cross pasture heifers for 334.2c weighing 370kg returning $1236. Brahman cross pasture steers from Qld Natural Beef, Toogoolawah sold for 331.2c weighing 390kg to return $1291. Dakl Trust, Tingalpa sold Charolais cross feeder heifers for 325c weighing 352kg returning $1144. Charolais cross feeder steers from P Murray, Bromelton sold for 337.2c weighing 440kg to return $1483.

D&M Heck, Fernvale sold Limousin cross grainfed heifers for 334.2c weighing 405kg returning $1353. D&M Heck also sold Limousin cross grainfed steers for 331.2c weighing 450kg to return $1490. Medium Droughtmaster cross cows from J&W Daniels, Benobble sold for 265.2c weighing 550kg returning $1458.

N&D Rosser, Buaraba sold Limousin cross cows for 274.2c weighing 690kg to return $1891. Michael Burns F/T sold Charolais cross yearling bulls for 322.2c weighing 381kg returning $1230. Charolais bulls from M&N Hoger, Gatton sold for 269.2c weighing 980kg returning $2638.

As Anzac Day is on Tuesday of next week, the regular Moreton prime cattle sale will be held on Wednesday, April 26 starting at 12 noon following the Silverdale sale.
