A top price of $13,000 was paid at the Elders Invitational bull sale held at Longreach on Friday, which saw 86 per cent of the 94 bulls offered, sold.
The multi-vendor sale featured sires from Shorthorn, Angus, Charbray, Braford, Santa Gertrudis and Droughtmaster studs, grossing $374,500.
The overall sale average was $4624 for the 81 bulls sold.
Winton’s Peter and Deleece Carrington sold the top-priced bull from their Rondel Droughtmaster stable, Rondel Tooheys, a 24-month-old bull with Glenlands antecedants.
The Donaldson family from Medway Grazing at Bogantungan outlaid $13,000 for the bull, their only purchase at the sale.
New South Wales Shorthorn vendor Royalla Shorthorns received a top price of $8500 twice, from Heather Pedley from Boonamerrie, south of Longreach, and Jeff and Annette Rose, Barambah.
A top price of $4500 was paid twice for Bettafield Charbray bulls offered by Stephen and Alison Kajewski, by Tim and Jessica East, Wyora, Winton and by Mellish Park Grazing, Neenah Park, Longreach.
Bymount-based Mylington Angus stud principal Paul Weir received a top price of $4000 at the sale, from Colin Saunders, Cloncurry and from El Kedra Pastoral Company at Hughenden, while Sir William Allen and family at Alice Downs, Blackall received the top price of $7000 for one of the 12 Forest Park Santa Gertrudis bulls they offered.
They were one of three Santa Gertrudis studs selling, Swan Hill at Blackall and Bendalla at Longreach being the other two.
El Kedra, Stanford Downs, Hughenden, was the volume buyer on the day, purchasing 19 bulls across a number of breeds.
