Hay equipment specialist Kuhn Farm Machinery has added a new high-density and high-capacity machine to its range of large square balers.
The new LSB 1270 DX fills out the company’s line-up in the 120 centimetre x 70cm segment.
The new machine is designed for high capacity baling where high levels of operating efficiency are required, regardless of the crop conditions.
Kuhn says the LSB 1270 DX is capable of producing bales that are 10 per cent more dense compared to previous models and can increase working capacity in dry or bulky swaths.
Standard features include a double knotting system and revised driveline featuring what Kuhn calls an ‘Xtra’ gearbox design which provides up to 30pc extra load capacity compared to the previous model.
The baler also gets a new main frame and bale channel which are able to handle the increased loads created by the Xtra gearbox.
Six knotters are designed to tie the bale halfway along the bale’s length as well as at the bale’s end.
This system is constantly monitored by the machine’s electronic control terminal, which manages twine tension and gives a knotter failure alert, allowing the operator to maximise bale density.
Larger diameter bale cylinders are designed to create greater friction in the bale channel helping to increase bale density.
There’s the option of a mechanical drive crop roller to allow the machine to maintain a high working throughput in dry and bulky swaths.
The crop roller is protected by a cam clutch to ensure a trouble free feed intake when collecting large or uneven swaths which Kuhn claims can also increase working capacity by up to 15pc compared to standard machines.
