A TOP yarding of 810 head delivered a red hot market at Boyd O’Brien Bartholomew’s annual Moreton Beef Classic Show and Sale, which also supported the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
Pen after pen of quality trade and export cattle came to hand and met very strong competition.
In line with changing market trends, featured in this year’s show were 340 feeders presented by 20 vendors who all went home with smiles on their faces.
John Doonan, Calvert sold a 370kg Black Limousin steers with future show potential for $6.80/kg to return $2516 to the Cox Family Partnership, Glamorganvale.
Charolais-cross grain assist 440kg steers account Beaudesert State High School sold for $4.75/kg for $2090 to the Cooper Family, Wulkuraka. Tom and Joy Surawski, Croftby, bought a 390kg Limousin-cross grain assist heifer from Graham Bell, Pine Mountain, for $4.70 ($1833).
Grain accredited 548kg Speckle Park steers account Gerry Muckert, Karrabin sold for $4.08 ($2237). Grain accredited 410kg Limousin heifers account Barry Neuendorff, Marburg sold for $4 to return $1640 to N&P Wholesale Meats, Purga. N&P Meats also bought a 335kg grain assist Greyman steer account Hidden Valley, Lowood, for 400c ($1340). Farina Livestock, Toowoomba sold a 440kg Murray Grey-cross grain assist heifer to N&P Meats for $3.90 ($1716). John Kynoch, Toowoomba, sold a grain accredited 455kg Santa-cross heifer prepared at Freestone Feedlot for $4.04 ($1838) to N&P Meats.
Marcelford Meats, Churchill, bought a grain assist 505kg Limousin steer from B&D Gillam, Nobby, for $3.86 ($1949). Grain assist 325kg Charbray heifers account Symbol D Grazing, Kilcoy sold for $3.68 ($1196) to Highchester Meats, Beaudesert. Noel and Liz Cook, Goondiwindi sold a grain accredited 575kg Shorthorn heifer for $3.60 ($2070) from Nolan Meats, Gympie. Droughtmaster feeder heifers 351kg from Two Tons Stock & Plant, Esk, sold for $3.72 ($1307) from Australian Country Choice Feedlots, Coominya. ACC also bought 359kg Charbray feeder heifers from Broomfield Grazing, Cedar Grove, for $3.72 ($1337).
Todd and Verena Joyce of Kooroomba Hay, Mt Alford, sold 353kg Droughtmaster feeder heifers for 370c ($1307). Droughtmaster weaner steers 207kg account Steve and Elaine Lehmann, Minden, sold for $3.94 ($815) to Triple P Pastoral, Cressbrook. Gallanani Grazing, Esk, sold 367kg Droughtmaster feeder steers for $3.82 weighing ($1400). Brian and Colleen Smith, Coominya, sold the Champion Pen of Feeders for $3.60/kg weighing 508kg ($1830) to Kindon Station, Goondiwindi.
Kindon also bought 488kg feeder steers from the Clarke family, Beechmont, for $3.58 to return $1748. Trinity Pastoral Holdings, Moggill, sold 501kg Charbray feeder steers for $3.58 ($1796) to Kindon. Landmark Toowoomba, bought 443kg Charbray feeders for $3.62 ($1605). Rahane Pastoral Co, Innisplain, sold 462kg Droughtmaster-cross steers for $3.58/kg to return $1662 from Kindon.
To support the Royal Flying Doctors, Usher Pastoral, Taroom, sent a line of quality 478kg Brahman steers topping at $3.30 ($1579). The Templeton Family, Bellevue Cattle Co, Capella, also sent in three decks of well presented cattle, with their 545kg steers selling to $3.24 ($1766). ACC also sent some 618kg heavy grain accredited heifers to support the RFDS, selling to $3.32 ($2050).
Grain accredited 684kg Charbray steers account Noel and Liz Cook sold for $3.38 ($2312) bought by Kilcoy Pastoral. Gerry Muckert sold a 695kg grain accredited Limousin steer for $3.56/kg ($2474) to Drylands Pastoral Co, Toowoomba. Drylands Pastoral also bought a grain assist 705kg Limousin heifer for $3.32 ($2341) from Jason and Megan Livingstone, Maidenwell. The Clarke family, Beechmont, sold 593kg pasture fed ox for $3.30 ($1958) bought by Teys Australia, Beenleigh. Sword Holdings, Toogoolawah, sold 620kg Brahman cows for $2.70 ($1674) from JBS, Dinmore.
