The Hatton family's Diamond H Santa Gertrudis bull sale topped at $40,000 when 60 bulls were put to auction at Wandoan last Friday.
Overall the sale resulted with 49 bulls sold under the hammer for an average of $5990, while 11 heifers topped at $8750 and averaged $5795.
Top price bull, Diamond H Red Foo sold to a syndicate of Phillip Kirkby, Wave Hill Stud and Sylvia Kirkby, Warenda Stud, both of Narrabri , NSW along with Scott and Wendy Ferguson, Glenn Oaks Stud, Nobby.
All members of the syndicate liked Diamond H Red Foo for his exceptional temperament, muscle, and breed characteristics.
“We were all looking for a quiet polled bull with thickness and muscle that will improve our EMA,” Phillip Kirkby said.
Scott Ferguson said he too was keen to secure him, as Diamond Red Foo is a son of Glenview Granville G120, from the highly productive Glenview X20, bred by his mother, Margaret Ferguson.
Diamond H Red Foo weighted 1166kg, has a daily weight gain of 1.1kg, and an EMA of 145sq cm.
The next best price of $12,000 was achieved twice. Firstly, Colin and Glenda Semple, Glencol Santa Gertrudis Stud, Banana selected Diamond H Storm (p) S129, a son of Warenda Equador (P).
Phillip Hague, Rockingham Santa Gertrudis Stud, Lake Cargelligo, NSW also paid the same money for another son of Warenda Equador )P), Diamond H Striker S151 (P).
Celamba Santa Gertrudis Stud, Deepwater. NSW paid the top price of $8750 for the 29-month-old heifer Diamond H Rainbow R093 (P) with a bull calf at foot.
